Ah, it is over.
What a sneaky biatch of a semester. Started easily enough. I figured classes wouldn't give me too much trouble. The homeworks started taking much longer than I anticipated, but still, ok.
Then the final weeks came, and it was hell. I unwittingly picked a very big project on dependency tree parsing for my final project in NLP, which I pretty much spent every day of the last three weeks working on.
Of course, I had AI homework and the final in that time, just to make things interesting. And the funder for my project at ISI decided to show up in the middle of finals week, so I got to prepare for that, too.
The project was due at 11:59pm on the 12th (the midnight thing seems to be a little CS tradition; not sure if that or the due at the beginning of class thing leads to more stress). I had my lovely 8am final the day before, so I was up at 5:30. Home by 10:30 or so, and then I worked until 3am that night. Then I was up at 8am the next/same morning, and worked straight until 11pm that night, turning it in with an hour to spare. Woo, haa!
I will surVEEV!
By my impressive November posting count (1), you may surmise that I've been a mite bit busy.
It's worse now.
In a fateful case of underestimation, I chose a final project in my NLP class that is a big black hole of my time (it's dependency tree parsing, for those who care; it's a huge stinking biatch). I've put down at least 40 hours on it, and I hope I'm half way through.
And it's due next week, back to back with a final that I need to study for a lot.
And I just got a note from my advisor, saying that the funder for my research project is paying a surprise visit on Monday, and could I whip up some stuff to show what I've done.
Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
